I Hate Liars

My best friend is a liar. I’ve caught her at it. I wish she wouldn’t. Maybe she claims all this stuff to make herself seem better, more impressive. But she really doesn’t need to. In fact, I’d like her more if she didn’t. But, then again, she might just do it because she thinks I’m reeeaally gullible and she finds it funny. If so, she’s an idiot. Some of the stuff she says you don’t even need to catch her – it’s so extremely obviously a LIE! Let’s call her… Kali (even if she does lie, I don’t think she needs her real name spreading).

So, I’ve-Caught-You-Red-Handed Lie #1:
She says that her friend (lets call her ‘Leah’) is a mega techy sciencey person. Apparently, Leah has modified Kali’s mobile so that while it has ‘Fight For This Love’ as its ringtone, when she does an emergency call to her it plays ‘Girlfriend’ – even if it is on silent. I suppose Kali was quite clever with it, as she claimed her phone was on silent (therefore she could claim that Leah was calling her (normal non-emergency calls)) - but it would have worked better if it really was! First of all – her Mum called and it went and played ‘Fight For This Love’ – so much for it being on silent! Secondly, when Leah supposedly called with an emergency call, I saw that Kali was actually just using the music player. She over explained what was going on, too, ‘repeating’ everything that was ‘being said’. You don’t even want to know why Leah was ‘phoning’ her in the first place.

I’ve-Caught-You-Red-Handed Lie #2:
She says that she went to a party with her group of friends (lets call them ‘the Doolally 5′ – and the 5 members can be called Kali, Leah, Gale, Irma & Will) where there were professional hair and makeup people who pampered them whilst they drove round in a limo. She also mentioned that they had completely trashed the limo… But, she has now put a picture of the party on Facebook – there were 6 people in it and it didn’t include all of the Doolally 5…

There are also the lies that are much harder to catch her out on, ones from her old school (there isn’t any other people from that school in our one) that she claims her parents don’t know about. Then there are the ones where she says her parents know about but don’t like to talk about. And the stories who’s details change each time they are relayed. And not forgetting the plain stupid ones, claiming that Leah has created things that not even the top scientists or police have made, and that the Doolally 5 are actually criminals.

What do you think? What should I do about it? I would ditch her, but, as we are both part of a 3, it wouldn’t be fair on the 3rd person (let’s call her Tallulah) to make her choose. She hasn’t done anything wrong but I’d probably have to ditch her, too. Then comes the problem of my hopelessness of making new friends. And then there’s the complication of the fact we also have loads of fun together most of the time… I want to stay friends. I just want her to stop lying.

What would you advice be? Comment below and tell me (if you want).

UPDATE: Kali bust her ‘I was in a car crash’ thing today. She was like ‘I’ve only been in one car crash and that was when a learner driver smashed into the back of us’. Then when I mentioned the ‘black ice’ incident, it became ‘well, that wasn’t a proper crash, we just span off the road and then back on again’  er – that wasn’t what you had said at the time! Because, back then, the story had been that she had hit black ice, the car had skidded around, flipped onto its side and been crashed into by another car and gone into a ditch (not necessarily in that order). Great example of ‘story changes every time’!

But there was a more hurtful thing that she did today – she roped Tallulah in as well. I don’t think Tallulah realised she was lying to me – but they were acting like a mix of each other (not entirely successfully – I could see right through it). Then Kali claimed it was Leah making something that switches aspects of two people whose DNA she has (Kali says that she has given Leah samples of hair from me and Tallulah). That really got me down – the fact that she’d got Tallulah acting it out as well (even though she probably didn’t know why Kali was suggesting they pretended to partially switch brains). Then when they saw that I was sad, they suddenly started returning to themselves (after a little quiet (private) chat) – apparently Leah’s whatever-it-was was wearing off… Hmm. Very likely. Not.

This is such a mess! Kali can’t lie for toffee (that’s saying something – she’s sugar obsessed) and I can’t go back to downright denying there’s anything wrong. I need a magic solution to make her be honest but not offend her into disliking me – if she decided to hate me, it’d be worse than her lies. Anyone have (or know where to get it from) any Veritaserum?

  1. Will said,

Blimey. Thats a lot to read :)

She does sound extremely annoying. Really. But it probably is like you said some strange thing to make herself feel better and everyone else jealous. I dont like people like that. Luckily, theyre not my friends :P

So yeah. Next time she lies. Say STOP LYING. Oughta do the trick :)
Cus you wanna stay friends with ‘Tallulah’ and if she likes her so much then you just gotta stay friends with her :) You could have a conversation with ‘Tallulah’ though. Ask if she finds it annoying too.

Im glad your still here :D
